You can now have full control over the content of comments posted by others on Instagram. The photo-sharing app has launched a keyword moderation tool which will give its users control over the content of comments posted on their pictures on the platform.
The announcement about keyword moderation tool was made by Instagram CEO and co-founder Kevin Systrom in a blogpost. He said, “The first feature we’re introducing is a keyword moderation tool that anyone can use. Now, when you tap the gear icon on your profile, you’ll find a new Comments tool.”
This feature lets you list words you consider offensive or inappropriate. Comments with these words will be hidden from your posts. You can either select your own list of words or use default words that Instagram has provided.
The photo-sharing app has already allows swiping to delete comments, reporting inappropriate comments and blocking accounts.
If you want to turn on the feature, go to the ‘comments’ option in its settings, turn on ‘hide inappropriate comments’ and specify words that you do not want to see on the pictures they post.
In the past, there have been many instances when people expressed their opinions about a given post on a social media platform such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and have complicated the issue.
With the launch of this new tool, anyone can now deal with negative or undesirable comments.
“We know tools aren’t the only solution for this complex problem, but together, we can work towards keeping Instagram a safe place for self-expression. My commitment to you is that we will keep building features that safeguard the community and maintain what makes Instagram a positive and creative place for everyone,” added Systrom.
