Host a potluck dinner
It is not going to be easy getting a reservation at a fancy restaurant. And the restaurants also tend to hike the prices a bit on New Year’s Eve. Instead of the expense and added stress, host a casual dinner party at home and ask each of your friends to bring a favorite dish. This way you will not end up wasting all your time in your Kitchen, at the same time you will be spending quality time with your friends.
Get your board on
Nothing like switching on your oil radiators on the cozy winter night and having fun time with family! While it may not be a cool thing to flaunt, it will definitely be rejuvenating and give a good start to the New Year. So, take out your board games, but make sure there is a coordinator so that the activity will be well-organized. There are a lot of games to choose from, including Monopoly, Scrabble or anything else you might think about.
Enjoy a bubble bath
You do not necessarily have to spend the new year with people around you. Enjoying one’s own company feels best at times. Why not spend a ‘me time’ this year end? Get in your bathtub, put in a few essential oils and sea-salts and pamper yourself with a refreshing bubble bath.
Read a book
Do you know that Icelanders follow a unique Christmas tradition of exchanging books on the eve of the festival and spending the night reading them in their bed? Well, you can have your own Christmas Book Flood on New Years instead. Dig deep into your comfortable bed and warm rug for a good read. Knowledge is power, so why not ring in the new year with a wiser you.
If you are home-bound on New Years by choice, you can spend the night by pampering yourself with amazing food, TV or movies. Give a miss to the whole dress-up game and slip into your pyjamas. Binge-watch your favorite TV shows or movies and do what you feel like. Meditate if you feel like, write a diary entry or just go to the terrace and stare at the stars. Sometimes, it feels the best to say nothing and just lie down feeling happy and grateful for everything you have in life. If you feel like, call a few friends over for a night stay and have a memorable pyjama party.
