The video hints that the event will be about the Pixel smartphones. The event is likely to kick off at 9:00 am Pacific Time (9:30 pm IST) on October 4 and would be live streamed on Google’s YouTube page.
It is being said that the company might stamp its latest phones with a ‘Pixel’ brand instead of the ‘Nexus’ that was used in the past for Android smartphones.
The smartphone would be promoted as a standard to which other’s making Android devices should aspire, and would come just weeks after Apple’s began selling new iPhone 7 models.
The two phones, which were earlier named as Nexus Marlin and Nexus Sailfish, will be now called as Pixel and Pixel XL. Both are expected to look more or less the same. However, their size, display resolution and battery life may vary. Both the smartphones are expected to run on Android Nougat 7.1 out-of-the-box and both will have an aluminum body.
The Google Pixel is likely to feature a 5-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) display, 4GB RAM, 32 GB storage capacity, Snapdragon 820 chipset with 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera. It might also include a USB Type-C port, and fingerprint scanner at the back.
On the other hand the Pixel XL model will feature a larger 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display, 4GB RAM, 32GB and 128GB storage capacity, 12-megapixel rear camera, an 8-megapixel selfie camera, Snapdragon 820/821 chipset, 3,450mAh battery, and USB Type-C port.
The phones are rumored to be priced around Rs 43,483.
