Here are the 7 important things announced at the iPhone 7 event.
The Apple iPhone 7 and 7 Plus were announced. The new iPhones retained most of the same aluminum design from the last year variant but was improved upon with new jet black color option and the hidden antenna line. The new iPhone comes with a new non-mechanical home button that works like the Force Touch trackpads on the new MacBook models, which provided a click with a Taptic Engine. The iPhone 7 is now IP67 dust and water resistant like the Samsung Galaxy S7 and features new dual stereo speakers. It runs on a new Apple A10 fusion chip that has separate cores to do high-performance tasks and low-performance task in order to preserve battery life.
The most exciting announcement of the day was the dual camera feature in the iPhone Plus model. In addition to a regular 12- megapixel sensor, Apple added a telephoto camera which will provide 2x Optical Zoom. The camera sensors in both phones are significantly improved with optical image stabilization, new true tone flash, and a flicker sensor. The iPhone 7 will be launched in India on October 7 at a price of Rs 60,000.
Apple Watch Series 2
The Apple Watch became the number two watch brand in under 18 months and number one in smartwatch category. The Watch OS 3 launched in June, now makes launching apps fast and simple. The new Apple Watch looks and feels like the last generation models, however, the whole product is reengineered. The new Apple Watch is ‘swim proof ‘, that means water resistant for 50 meters, it can withstand water pressure at a depth of 50 meters – something a gold standard in swimming watches. To achieve this capability, Apple implemented new seals and adhesives and reinvented its speakers to prevent water getting into it through speakers.
The new Apple Watch runs with a dual core processor which is 50% faster and a GPU that provides twice graphic performance. It has an improved and more bright display making it visible clearly in sunlight. Apple also added a GPS to the Apple Watch to help with workouts such as cycling, hiking or running. The new Apple Watch comes in Aluminum, Stainless Steel, and the new Ceramics versions. The new Apple Watch is priced at $369. The watch will make its debut in the Indian market along side iPhone 7 on October 7, 2016.
Apple announced its first truly wireless earbuds called AirPods. The AirPods are powered by Apple’s new W1 chip that handles the audio and wireless connection. AirPods doesn’t have any buttons as infrared sensors built into them will detect when they’re in your ear. Additionally, there are motion accelerometers detect your touch which will activate Siri. The AirPods work with both iPhone and Apple Watch simultaneously.
The AirPods have a battery capacity up to five hours of charge and the charging case has another twenty-five hours of battery capacity. Apple has also brought some the AirPod technologies, such as the W1 chip, to the new range of Beats headphones.
Real- Time collaboration in iWorks
Real-time collaboration finally comes to the iWorks, which contains Pages, Numbers, and Keynotes. The feature allows users to edit presentations, documents and spreadsheets simultaneously. The major competitor of iWork suite, MS Office, and Google Docs has had this functionality for years. Apple seems to be playing catching up here.
Apple Pay is now expanded to add many new regions, as it becomes the leading wireless payment service. The new iPhone 7 now supports Apple Pay in countries like Japan where wireless payment systems use a different type of NFC technology compared to the United States and Europe. The new iPhone now included the Felica NFC technology which brings support to Apple Pay in Japan.
Other announcements include the coming of the famous Nintendo game Super Mario game to the iPhone and iPads alongside the Apple Watch version of Pokemon Go. The new iOS update, iOS 10, will come to all eligible devices on September 13th while the MacOS Sierra will officially launch on September 20th.
